The World’s Toughest Row Atlantic Challenge is the world’s toughest rowing race, covering 3,000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean alone from La Gomera, Canary Islands, Spain (28°N 17°W) to Nelson’s Dockyard, English Harbour, Antigua and Barbuda (17°N 62°W).
Everyone who participates in the race will have a unique experience. Competitiveness gives way to the camaraderie required to complete the challenge, resulting in lifelong friendships. Upon completion, rowers join a small group of friends who have experienced the thrills and spills of an ocean crossing. The mental and physical endurance will result in a once-in-a-lifetime achievement that will be remembered forever.
The World’s Toughest Row Atlantic Challenge brings together teams from all walks of life with one goal in mind: to complete the unusual challenge of rowing across an ocean. The mood is electrifying as people assist one another in preparing for the big Atlantic Ocean’s assault. Teams struggle with sleep deprivation, salt sores, and the race’s physical demands. Rowers are left with their own thoughts, an expanse of ocean, and the task of safely navigating the boat to the other side.
This is one of the most difficult endurance races on the planet! We, the Oar Mighty Mates 2C, are two ordinary friends who have never done anything like this before and know that it will be our ultimate test. Dementia UK and Abigail’s Footsteps are the charities for which we are rowing.
