Hi, my name is Andy and I will be 61 a few weeks before the start of WTR2024. Like friend Tim, I have always loved the outdoors and extreme activities. My hobbies include Skiing & Scuba diving and I have also skydived among several other extreme activities. My passion is however running having completed many half and full marathons.
Rowing the Atlantic will however prove to be the ultimate challenge and we are both excited and honoured to have the opportunity to fulfil an achievement of a lifetime whilst raising money for such a fantastic cause. We are both very lucky to have super supportive families who will encourage us at all times on the wonderful journey ahead.
Hi My Name is Tim, ever since a young age I have been drawn to the sea having been brought up in Teignmouth.
My love for watersports started at the age of 10 with windsurfing and soon expanded to a verity of different watersports. 30 years ago I became a windsurfing and sailing instructor and I have made instructing my full-time career, now training instructors in both on water and shorebased activities and owner/Principal of SeaSports Southwest.
This is where I was introduced to ocean rowing working with the World’s Toughest Row since 2012 teaching the shore based courses required for the row.
Andy came to do his training with us at SeaSports where we got on really well sharing a love for skiing, running and the sea.
Every year I get asked when I am going to row? Well 2024 is the year. Thanks to Andy asking me to row with him.
This just seems the perfect opportunity for me as I’d always said I wanted to row as a pair in the Worlds Toughest row and also rowing for a charity close to my heart after the passing of my wife Sue’s father from dementia.
Although not a rower I have lots of experience on the water. I’m really excited for this challenge.
